During the course, you’ll learn about the basics of cryptocurrency and blockchain, the practicalities of how it is used, both for legitimate and criminal purposes and of course how to progress an investigation in which cryptocurrency features.
The course takes the form of a number of modules, with each module broken down into short lessons. At the end of each module, you’ll need to pass a knowledge check before moving on to the next. There are also a number of exercises requiring you to use freely available online tools to find information and complete the tasks.
By completing the self-learning modules, you will learn the theoretical knowledge required to be an Intelligence Researcher. You will develop an understanding of the basics, such as:
- The definitions of intelligence and analysis.
- The National Intelligence Model and the National Decision Model.
- Collecting and evaluating information.
- The different types of intelligence products.
- Key critical thinking skills and potential biases.
- Disseminating your findings.
The self-learning modules are made up of short lessons that you can complete at your own pace. Lessons contain exercises and a knowledge check to help you remember some of the key concepts discussed within that lesson.
At the end of some lessons, you will be asked to answer a question on your reflective log. These questions will allow you to consider how the content of the lesson, and previous lessons, relates to your work. These questions are not a test, and they will not be marked by anyone.
