There are some great leaders out there and we had to pick just three for the shortlist which was not an easy task. This created some hotly debated discussions within the judging panel.

Here’s our shortlist:

Hampshire Constabulary

This Digital Media Coordinator has a constant drive, enthusiasm and positivity that pushes innovative improvements and the solidifying of skills. Due to their work, the Constabulary has won international awards. They have a clear appreciation of the moving technological landscape and its implications for everyone involved. They are a member of various DII governance boards and influence the development and delivery of digital investigative training, receiving requests to design and deliver training and presentations. They’re an excellent role model and advocate policing and have formed relationships with non-police organisations to collaborate and provide bespoke training to improve law enforcement’s response to victims.

Yorkshire & Humber Regional Cyber Crime Unit

This leader has worked tirelessly over the past four years to create an award-winning unit. They have advised, influenced, and delivered an implementation of digital change, resulting in improved capability across the policing landscape and have built an international network of academic and industry professionals to provide alternative strategies and creative thinking in policing. They’ve pioneered alternative recruitment strategies and launched a ground-breaking intern and volunteer programme that is being rolled out nationally. They’ve also Created competition to educate young people on the computer misuse act, online grooming and prevention from becoming a victim.

Metropolitan Police Service

In 2019, this leader delivered 4 projects, each one a significant success. These include introducing the IPA and building a new standard application format that led to the significant decease of applications returned for rework with direct training to 2500 officers; the number of SPoCs of the team almost doubling due to redesigning shifts and department restructure; secured investments in technical training; invested resources in creating a specialist IP pod resulting in the reduction of IP based errors. They use their team’s ideas to help design new processes and lead with a clear strategic vision whilst upholding the highest ethical standards.
